'Splosion Man Impressions (XBLA)

Splosion Man Yesterday marks the first release of Microsofts Summer of Arcade 2009 in which they release a slew of good games for 5 straight weeks. Last year it brought the joys of such games as: Geometry Wars 2, Bionic Commando: Rearmed, Galaga Legions, Braid and the infinitely wonderful Castle Crashers. This year, I’m not convinced it’s going to be quite as good. But it sure did start off strong with the release of ‘Splosion Man.

Prince of Persia

The newest installment in the Prince of Persia series is a totally new game from the old trilogy that started with the Sands of Time so long ago. I’ve played through that trilogy several times and enjoyed it thoroughly, but this is something totally different. To start, our hero is not a Prince and there is no relation with Persia at all. But we do have a Princess and a world to save from the darkness.

Lost In Exploration

I gave Fallout 3 a try awhile back when it released to see what all the hype was about, I never played the first two, but I enjoyed Oblivion enough that this looked like a much more interesting world built on the same concepts. However, I quickly became very frustrated at the battle system because I wanted this to be a shooter more than an RPG and felt that it couldn’t decide what it was. Well, after finishing up some other fall games (namely the collection-fest Banjo-Kazooie: N&B), I gave Fallout a fresh start and I sure am glad I did.

Project Gotham Racing 4 (PGR4)

I bought this game last week after renting Grid because this game was almost the same price as my rental (since when were rentals so expensive?) and I had heard a lot of good things about it. I haven’t really been “in to” racing games ever in my life, but more accurately I don’t think I’ve played one outside of an arcade since Need For Speed 2 on the PS1. So it’s safe to say that I don’t have much to compare them to and I’m not very good at them by default, but I wanted to drive some fancy cars so I went for it.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (review)

I have finally had the time to complete BK:Nuts and Bolts to a satisfactory point. I didn’t collect every last note in every single world nor did I retrieve all of the Mumbo crates in Showdown Town; however (thanks to Microsoft) I have this new outlook that when I have completed achievements I have completed the game and there simply weren’t achievements for these things. But I did “beat” the game as in finishing the last level and I collected all the jiggies, which are really the main focus, so I’d save I covered it and saved myself mindless headaches.

Banjo-Kazooie XBLA

I have put off writing this for a few days because I’ve gotten caught up with working on some personal projects, but I was just playing the new BK (nuts & bolts) and I’m afraid my current frustration towards it will persuade my thoughts of the original. So, I’m going to put it up now. For those of you who didn’t pre-order Nuts & Bolts, I don’t believe you can buy this one yet on XBLA. However, I did pre-order it, mainly because I got this one for free if I did, here’s what I thought.

Free Rock Band 2 Tracks

If you don’t know (or don’t have Rock Band 2), there were 20 free download tracks released today. If you bought the game it came with a code on the back of the manual to put into a website that then gave you another code to download the tracks. I got my code yesterday and promptly downloaded the tracks.

Dead Space (the Silent Hero)

Dead Space is here as I’m sure many people have picked up (just as I have) and have already enjoyed it plenty. It’s truly a fabulous game, but one question was lingering around before it’s release quite a bit, is it scary? It’s supposed to be a quite frightening game, but I have come up with an answer. No. It isn’t scary. However, it is very unnerving.

WipEout HD

Wow, been a long time since I posted anything, guess I’ve been busy. Been working on several projects along with doing a lot of gaming. With the new tv and HDMI cables the world of HD has engrossed me. Watching HD shows now and taking full advantage of my PS3/360. Lately though, it’s been all about the PS3. That will soon change with Dead Space, Gears 2, Banjo and Kazooie, finally purchasing Silent Hill…
