Gas MPG Experiment: Shell

Second fill up in the experiment was at Shell. To remind everyone, what I’m doing is getting gas from all the various gas stations around here and finding out which ones last longer than the others. I’ve seem to notice the tank drain slower with different companies gas and wanted to get the official on if it was just me, or it was my mind. Had my fingers crossed for Shell as it’s become one of my favorites, let’s see how it held up.

Filled up at Shell on August 8, 2009. Used the 93 “V-Power” grade. On that day it was priced at $2.879/gallon and I got 13.648 gallons. Driving on this tank, I ended up getting 260.5 miles out of it. If you refer back to my last post about BP you may want to take note that this is nearly 30 more miles. Which brought my MPG up to 19.25 from 17. Wow!

Shell surely didn’t let me down, which makes me think that it’s only going to get worse, but for the sake of the experiment I must continue on to check out other brands! Next will be Giant Eagles GetGo station.
