Gas MPG Experiment: BP

First used tank was from the infamous BP. It’s been a bit of time now, but I was out of town for a few days so this tank actually lasted me moderately well, but, not as well as I would have liked.

Here’s the breakdown:
Filled up on July 30, 2009 using the Premium grade 93 gas. At the time it was $2.69/gallon and I got 13.588 gallons. I ended up getting 231.1 miles out of the tank, ending up filling up the next time with 13.648 gallons which means BP ranked in at 17mpg. This is not good. The minimum for my car should be 18, even driving around Chicago I could get over 18mpg. Not being in the city anymore, I should always do better than 18mpg.

So, BP gets the thumbs down from me, I think I’m done buying gas from them. Next up, Shell V-Power!
