Lately I’ve been noticing as I drove around my gas tank running out faster than usual. I started to think that it was because I’m due for an oil change and that was causing my engine to work harder or something, but this very last time I filled up I noticed my gas last an extended period of time. Highway mileage without being on the highway. So, today I’m going to start an experiment.
I’m going to go get my oil changed so that is in top condition and then I’m going to start tracking how good of mileage I get from different companies gas. I’ll probably start with Shell because they are usually my favorite, but also in the area there is BP, GetGo, Speedway, Sheetz, Sunoco and one I can’t remember the name of. So that gives some good options to check out.
My rules will be that I will drive my normal driving every day, I’m not going to try to drive all eco-friendly (aka slow) just to get good mileage. I’m not concerned about the best mileage I can get from my car (because I know it’s not much), but I want to see how companies gas compares to each other. I’ll get a full tank at each place, and I’ll calculate the MPG from when my fuel light turns on. I will also note what grade each station sells. I always by premium, but sometimes this ranges between 92-94 grade.
Hopefully someone else finds this interesting! I will post back after I fill up!
